Arriving

Once the arrangements of when and which boat you will be diving from have been made, you need to arrive at the boat. The time of departure is usually set based upon the captain's schedule that takes into consideration sunrise and sunset, tides, distance to the location, and other factors. Some vessels will provide both an arrival time and a departure time. These are distinctively different times. Divers with all their equipment need to arrive at the loading area a minimum of 30 minutes prior to departure. Some liveaboards and expedition dive operations may have you arrive hours before departure.

Keep these times in mind, and adjust your personal schedule accordingly. Once you arrive keep your equipment in the designated loading area until you receive instructions on how to board and where to stow gear. Check in with the crew as there may be paperwork that needs completing before you can board.
