HPL chambers join DAN’s Recompression Chamber Network to enhance care
George Town, Grand Cayman (February 4, 2015) — Hyperbaric Partners, Ltd. (HPL) announced today that it has finalized an arrangement with Divers Alert Network (DAN) for the medical oversight and facilities management of the HPL network of hyperbaric chambers in the South Pacific and Caribbean. HPL was formed in 2010 to build, own and operate hyperbaric chambers and related medical facilities in dive destinations around the world. HPL’s goals are to provide high quality medical facilities with specialized equipment for the treatment of diving injuries, improve the overall diagnostic abilities, treatment protocols, and standard of health care for divers in remote areas, all at a reasonable and affordable cost.
Currently, the HPL network includes facilities located in Cozumel, Belize, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Palau, Chuuk and Vietnam. Each chamber is jointly owned by HPL and a local partner. The local partner has responsibility for the business aspects of the chamber’s operations and DAN will provide medical and operational support. Under the agreement with DAN, the HPL network of chambers will be listed on DAN.org and be available to divers worldwide through DAN’s 24/7 diving emergency hotline. DAN will receive no fees for the services it provides to HPL, donating these services as part of DAN’s mission to promote diving safety.
Each of HPL’s 9 chambers are also members of DAN’s Recompression Chamber Network (RCN). Through DAN’s RCN, these chambers have access to highly trained diving medical physicians, annual inspections, maintenance and training for the staff and medical professionals who work at the chamber.
HPL is a Cayman based tax-exempt corporation that is wholly owned by a charitable STAR Trust. The trust supports diving safety programs that are targeted primarily at recreational divers. Any profits generated from these chamber operations must be reinvested in other dive safety programs.
