Divers Alert Network (DAN) has announced that Virginia Parker is the new Vice President of Development. Her work will focus on increasing the resources available to advance the worldwide DAN mission in scuba diving safety and education through The DAN Foundation, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Parker comes to DAN from Wake Tech Community College where she developed and implemented a successful multi-million dollar major gifts campaign for that institution. Highly active in the community, Parker has served in a wide range of senior-level management and leadership positions.
In her new role at DAN, she will have primary responsibility for all fundraising and development activities. This also includes establishing and implementing the infrastructure needed to substantially increase donations through the solicitation of major gifts, federal and state grants, special events, and individual, corporate and foundation support.

Parker is very active in the local community serving on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Theatre and the YMCA Lightner Achievers. She has also volunteered with the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce in addition to giving of her time in numerous philanthropic and community-based groups.
A Raleigh, North Carolina resident, Parker has previously worked in the educational, financial and institutional sales industries. Married with two children, Parker is also a certified scuba diver.
