Continuing Medical Education Course to be Hosted in Bonaire

It’s time to start making plans to attend DAN’s iconic diving and hyperbaric medicine course. Registration for the 72nd DAN Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Course is now open.

The DAN Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Course is in its 29th year and continues as a cornerstone program in DAN’s continuing medical education (CME) offerings. The accredited courses include lectures, case presentations, support materials and both formal and informal discussion sessions with faculty. Designed primarily for physicians, the six-day course can also be of value to emergency medical personnel, paramedics, nurses and professionals, as well as instructors, divemasters and other nonmedical, diving-related personnel with an interest in dive medicine.

The 72nd CME course will take place Oct. 6-13, 2012, at the Divi Flamingo Beach Resort in Bonaire.

Presentation topics scheduled for discussion include:

  • Medical and physical fitness to dive
  • Dive safety: issues and current research
  • Hyperbaric medicine: applications, protocols and mechanisms
  • Decompression physiology and pathophysiology
  • Dive injuries and management
  • Considerations for thermal stress, altitude exposure, freediving and special populations
  • Controversies in dive medicine

The package assembled for DAN CME course participants includes lodging, meals and ground transportation, with an optional dive package. Additional details can be found online.
