DAN® is what it is today because of the collective power of its members. Whether it’s been through membership drives, testimonials, sharing data or participation in DAN research, DAN Members have always proven their willingness to support diving’s only organization dedicated to safety.
Of course, one of the favorite ways divers support DAN is through private donations and group fundraisers. Every fundraiser, whether it raises a few dollars or thousands, contributes to the nonprofit services DAN provides, including the DAN Emergency Hotline, the Medical Information Line and the development of education programs, diving research and philanthropic outreach programs.
“Through the generosity of our members and supporters, DAN makes our nonprofit services available to any diver who needs them,” said Dan Orr, president of DAN. “Fundraisers and other donations are essential in helping us cover the costs associated with these services.”
The fall and winter seasons are popular times to hold fundraisers. Whether it’s a treasure hunt, a pumpkin-carving contest or a holiday party, divers frequently gather at this time of year for days of fun in the name of a good cause.
“We are always amazed at the efforts and generosity of the diving community when it comes to supporting DAN,” Orr said. “Whether the event is just a few folks having fun, or one of the many annual events held in our name, we are incredibly grateful to every diver who participates and for every dollar raised.”
Now is the perfect time of year to plan a fundraiser; if you’re unsure about how to plan an event, DAN offers a downloadable guide to help you, or, as always, you can contact us directly at +1-919-684-2948. If you’re looking for other ways to support DAN financially, there are several options available online.
It’s all about the power of collective effort. DAN is a testament to what that can do, and with the continued support of the diving community, there’s no telling what we — together — will achieve.
