Invasive skills competency is paramount to providing safe and effective contingency care for hyperbaric patients. Fortunately, the industry has a stellar safety record and the need to utilize this skill set is exceedingly rare. This leads to a loss of competancy and confidence in these skills. Simulation has been shown to be an effective, fun, successful means to maintaining skills/learning new ones in a fiscally/socially acceptable manner.

As part of the UHMS Pacific Chapter 2014 regional meeting in Newport Beach CA we would like to offer an invasive skills precourse on August 21, 2014. This is a unique program as it is specifically a needed program for BOTH physicians, and DMT’s (Associates) alike. In addition it is important for nurses as well to practice the support of these skills as we work as a team in emergency situations.
