Internship Program : Participate (Intern)

Intern Requirements

Qualities for good interns include enthusiasm, people skills, initiative, integrity, energy, intelligence, persuasiveness, computer literacy, and interest in science and research.

The minimum age for an intern is 20 (by June 1 of the current year) with an educational track in a science field preferred. While diving is not a required skill for this internship, candidates should be certified scuba divers.

The following must be submitted in order to be considered for the Internship Program:

  • Intern Application (PDF: 66 KB);
  • One-page essay outlining the reasons for the applicant’s interest and why he / she would be a good intern; and
  • Three references.

The deadline for submitting the application and all supporting material is January 15.

The DAN Research department will review applications and qualifications and conduct phone interviews, if necessary, before making final decisions in mid-February. Interns will be notified by March 1 for the summer diving season.
