Ken Berry Joins DAN Staff as Media Manager
Last Updated: 4/22/2009 5:40:42 PM

Ken Berry has joined DAN® as its media manager, the dive safety organization announced recently.

Berry has an extensive background, working 25 years in the video industry. He has produced, directed, operated cameras and worked as grip, on everything from feature films to industrial videos to surfing contests for ESPN. Most recently he worked for PADI, supervising its media production.

Jeff Myers, DAN chief operating officer, said Berry brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to DAN, especially his work in media production.

“He will be instrumental as we move forward with future DAN courses, not just in the DAN America region, but worldwide as his work will be supported by all International DAN partners — DAN Asia-Pacific, DAN Europe, DAN Japan and DAN Southern Africa,” Myers said. “All our IDAN offices have pledged a renewed spirit of cooperation as we continue to find ways of collaborating on important dive safety initiatives that cross all borders.

“The initiatives will be the glue that binds together IDAN members, and Ken will work closely with all DAN offices to help bring this to fruition.”

Berry has participated in DAN media productions since 1997, when DAN hired Diving Science and Technology to produce the Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries video.

Berry said he had been fortunate enough to work on almost all subsequent DAN training videos since that time. “When the position became available, I jumped at the chance to help develop an in-house production department at DAN,” Berry said. “I believe in the mission, and I believe I can help make a difference at DAN. I also feel that my work at DAN can make a positive difference in diver safety.”

Berry joined PADI in 1993 as producer/director. He later became PADI’s and DSAT’s executive producer. He supervised media production at PADI.

Berry became a DAN Member in November 2004. His current certification level is as PADI Rescue Diver. <
