Projects in Cayman Underscore Reef Protection Effort
Last Updated: 11/6/2009 12:55:28 PM

With the ongoing Dive 365 project, scuba divers can soon enjoy a different dive spot everyday in the Cayman Islands; the project seeks to develop and maintain 365 separate moorings, providing divers new and beautiful dive sites every day. The Cayman Islands will soon create a new diving attraction with the sinking of a decommissioned naval ship, the USS Kittiwake.

These initiatives underscore the Cayman Islands’ commitment to protecting its reefs from environmental overuse. For more information, emailinfo@cita.ky or call 1-345-949-8522.

The Cayman Islands will also host the 2010 International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame 10th Anniversary in January, honoring four extraordinary individuals who have each played an important role in shaping the recreational diving industry. For more information on the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame, visit http://www.internationalscubahalloffame.com.

Diving and movie buffs will have the chance to experience the surreal beauty of world-class underwater photography and film during the International Underwater Film Festival, which will be held at the Harquail Theatre in Grand Cayman on Jan. 29.
