DAN has named Dave Lawler as the organization's marketing director.
In this position, Lawler will supervise the DAN marketing staff and field representatives, develop DAN advertising and promotions and oversee product development and sales of DAN educational, training, safety and branded products. He will supervise the DAN Student Membership program for newly certified divers and the DAN Business Membership program.
In making the announcement, Tony Bacci, DAN Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, linked Lawler's wide-ranging experience in the dive industry to his work at DAN. ?At DAN, Lawler has effectively used his real-world experience in the dive industry to develop functional programs within DAN,? Bacci said. "Those programs have not only supported the DAN Mission and promoted dive safety, they have also focused on the needs and interests of dive businesses."
Lawler has worked for DAN since 1997, first in the Training Department as manager of the DAN Oxygen Programs. He managed the DAN Oxygen First Aid Training progrrams throughout in DAN America region. Since 2000, he has headed the Business Membership program at DAN, addressing the needs and interests of the dive operations and professional members.
In the mid-1990s after early career stints in teaching diving in the Caribbean and South Pacific, Lawler joined Pro Dive®, a dive training operation in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. There he trained and supervised 16 scuba instructors.
He is also a PADI Course Director. Since 1991, he has trained more than 2,000 diving professionals who are now working in more than 30 countries. Before joining DAN, Lawler was one of the DAN's most active oxygen administration instructors. <
