 To raise money for the Divers Alert Network (DAN) Research Internship Program, the organization is asking family, friends, local divers and co-workers to sponsor them for the Great Human Race through downtown Durham, N.C., on April 9, 2005.
The Great Human Race is the Durham Volunteer Center?s annual 5K nonprofit walk, which is offered as a fund-raising event to all area nonprofit and public agencies. DAN will meet at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park at 9 a.m. on April 9 and walk that morning in celebration of funds raised for the organization.
The goal of the walk for the DAN Research Internship Program is to help fund a summer intern in 2005. This individual may not be from North Carolina, but the intern will spend the summer at a host site on the North Carolina coast to collect Project Dive Exploration data for DAN Research.
Ten DAN staff members and friends of staff walked in the event in March last year. We raised more than $1,000 for the DAN Research Internship Program. We hope to raise more money for this event. Also, DAN Members who are in the Durham area on April 9 are invited to come out and join us on the walk to show support for your organization, DAN.
