Dive Site Directory - Online Info for the Diving Community
Last Updated: 8/13/2004 11:42:20 AM

The website http://www.divesitedirectory.com is a free online resource for divers, providing impartial reviews and information on dive sites all over the world. It was created by two divers who wanted to end the frustration of not being able to find information about dive locations easily online.

The site's content is created partially from their own diving experience but mostly from contributions by the diving community. Currently there are 17 destinations covered worldwide and hundreds of individual dive sites. For each location there is a map showing the dive sites in that area and an overview of its diving conditions. Where provided, there are also images of diving that location - there have been some truly outstanding images contributed!

The site is designed to be easy to navigate and is optimized to allow the site user to print any of the information it contains to take as reference on their dive trips. It is growing rapidly, month by month, and new contributions and features are constantly being added. Unlike other websites, the information comes from other diver's opinions, so there is not the bias of dive centers trying to sell the dive sites that they cover. In many cases, you can also read comments left by a number of divers on a location, often of differing skill levels, giving a truly overall impression of the site. Once you have dived the location, if you have differing views to what is on the directory, you can contribute them. They will be added and improve the diving experience of the next person who reads the review and then dives that site.

The directory is created to be a truly a global site, whether you are a member of DAN, PADI, NAUI, BSAC, SSAC - a novice with a 10L or a hardened wreck diver with more cylinders than a space shuttle, your contributions will be equally valued and placed online for the rest of the diving community to enjoy!
