Virtual Tour of Duke Hyperbaric Center

Begin the Tour

The Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Environmental Physiology is a U.S. Navy-certified multi-chamber hypo/hyperbaric complex with supporting laboratory space occupying a three story area of Duke University Medical Center. The top floor provides access to the main working area including the environmental chambers. These interconnected chambers contain eight large man-rated compartments, each capable of independent or connected operation. Seven of the eight compartments are located on the ground floor level of the facility. Adjacent to the complex are several support laboratories that contain facilities for wet biochemistry, cell biology, and a biomedical electronics shop.

Why DAN Doesn't Provide Chamber Location Information

Divers Alert Network (DAN) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization associated with Duke University Medical Center, in Durham, NC. Although DAN continues to conduct its laboratory research studies at this facility with the assistance of its talented staff, it should be noted that DAN does not own, nor does it operate the chambers at The Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Environmental Phsiology at Duke University Medical Center.

DAN would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire staff at The Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Environmental Physiology for allowing us to bring you this virtual tour and further educate the diving community.

IPIX Instructions:The "immersive images" that make up this virtual tour of The Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Environmental Physiology are 360-degree pictures featuring the latest generation of IPIX technology. They can be viewed by first downloading and installing the free plug-in viewer from IPIX.

Once you begin the tour, each image will automatically pan and zoom around the image. To pan manually, simply press the left mouse button when the mouse icon shows a pointing finger. When the mouse icon shows a + or -, pressing the mouse button will zoom in or out. A bullseye represents a "hotspot" that will display more detail about the point of interest.
