Diving and conception

I cannot find any information regarding my specific concern. I know women should not dive once they are pregnant but what about if you are trying to become pregnant?

There is indeed no data or available literature that addresses this specific topic. Appropriate experts have expressed opinions. The most prevalent opinion is that since it is unknown if diving would have any deleterious effects on conception it would be best to suspend diving. This is recommended primarily to eliminate any potential variables to allow the best possible environment. Other experts opine that if diving is continued wait for at least 48 hours after diving before attempting conception. This will allow adequate time for any inert gas to be eliminated in order to remove any potential variables. Whether one should completely refrain from diving or not can only be answered by the individual after an honest risk versus benefit analysis.
