  • 1980: DAN Founded as “National Diving Accident Network” by Dr. Peter B. Bennett; 24-Diving Emergency Hotline established
  • 1981: First emergency calls received; Medical Information Line created
  • 1983: "National Diving Accident Network" becomes "Divers Alert Network"; Membership Program launched
  • 1985: First DAN Oxygen Unit sold
  • 1987: Insurance Program first introduced
  • 1991: IDAN founded; Oxygen First Aid Training Program launched; Flying After Diving trials begin
