- 1980: DAN Founded as “National Diving Accident Network” by Dr. Peter B. Bennett; 24-Diving Emergency Hotline established
- 1981: First emergency calls received; Medical Information Line created
- 1983: "National Diving Accident Network" becomes "Divers Alert Network"; Membership Program launched
- 1985: First DAN Oxygen Unit sold
