DAN Announces New Addition to Board of Directors

Philip Mintz to Join DAN Board

The Divers Alert Network® (DAN®) board of directors continues its record of strong leadership with the recent selection of Philip Mintz as its newest board member. The announcement came following the Spring 2009 board meeting.

Mintz brings to the organization a great deal of in-depth experience in the sporting goods industry. He currently serves as the vice president of the Mares Diving Division of HEAD USA, where he develops strategic plans for the overall company and specific brands, spearheads marketing initiatives and coordinates efforts between the U.S. and international offices. Prior to his tenure as a Mares vice president, Mintz worked in the HEAD/Penn Racquet Sports division of HEAD USA, specializing in sports equipment sales and marketing.

“Phil will be an excellent addition to the DAN board of directors,” said Dennis Liberson, chairman of the DAN board of directors. “Not only does he lead a large and well-respected dive manufacturer, but he also has strong background in general management and sports marketing. We look forward to working with him and benefiting from his experience.”

Dan Orr, DAN president and CEO, agreed. “One of the unsung strengths of DAN is the relationship between its executive management and the board of directors. It’s great to see someone of Philip Mintz’s caliber coming aboard, and we know he’s going to bring a lot to the table.”

Mintz recently spent some time at DAN Headquarters, meeting the staff and orienting himself with the details of the organization.

“I’m not sure the diving public realizes the scope of the DAN organization,” Mintz said. “I don’t think you can until you spend some time there. The DAN staff is truly committed to and understands the importance of the service they provide, and what DAN Research has done to make diving safer is almost immeasurable. I look forward to serving on the DAN board of directors and supporting the continuing success of DAN and its mission.”

Mintz will take his place on the board of directors at the Fall 2009 meeting. He will serve a three-year term.
