DAN Training Hits the Road to Update Instructors and Trainers
DAN Training will hit the road in 2009 to update, train and qualify DAN Instructors and DAN Instructor Trainers across the United States.
In addition to offering Instructor/Instructor Trainer Updates and Instructor Trainer Workshops for aspiring DAN Instructor Trainers, the DAN Training staff will offer all interested instructors the opportunity to qualify and certify to teach DAN’s newest training program, Dive Medicine for Divers.
Dive Medicine for Divers is designed for those who want to learn dive medicine beyond basic first aid. Level One of the program teaches topics such as fitness to dive, physical exam techniques and risk assessment. The overall program also includes DAN Training courses such as DEMP and On-Site Neurological Assessment for Divers. All current DAN Instructors maintaining active status are eligible to be certified as a Dive Medicine for Divers Instructor.
“Dive Medicine for Divers is a tremendous opportunity to increase divers’ educations,” says Eric Douglas, DAN Director of Training. “It is one of the most comprehensive courses available, and we think it’s important to get that information in the hands of divers. We know it’s a tough time to be incurring travel expenses for a lot of our instructors and trainers right now, so we’re doing what we can to help bring the courses and updates to them.”
