DAN Goes to the DOGs

DAN’s third year of working with Diving Unlimited International on its nationwide tour of DUI DOG Rally & Demo Days has had a great summer thus far.

Only two Dog Days events remain this season:

The Demo Days, entire weekends dedicated to drysuit diving, allow divers to try a drysuit for the first time, or they can test the latest styles offered by DUI. No experience is necessary. DUI has certified instructors on site to dive with novices and show all divers some of the finer points of drysuit diving.

The partnership with DAN began in 2006, when DUI extended an invitation to DAN to join the tour at select events around the country.

From a DAN perspective, it was a tremendous opportunity to talk to active divers, local business owners and instructors and, of course, DAN Members. On average, DUI suits up between 100-200 a weekend, and each of them is an enthusiastic and excited diver. Surface intervals and lunch breaks often find divers at the DAN tent asking questions, sharing stories, renewing memberships or bringing dive buddies along to make them new members.

“Being out at these dive sites is important to the DAN Mission; it gives us an opportunity to talk to divers and show them that we are divers, too,” said Scott Smith, DAN training programs manager. “We get a chance to talk to divers and answer questions, helping them have a better understanding of DAN.”

DAN will attend DUI Demo Days throughout the summer and early fall. DAN Members are eligible for a discount for on-site admission to the DUI portion of the event, so check out our tour dates, grab your gear and come on out.
