Two DAN® representatives will join divers from all over the world for the May 24-31, 2008, Curaçao Dive Festival.
Joel Dovenbarger, vice president for DAN Medical Services, and Training Director Eric Douglas will conduct seminars and courses during the weeklong celebration of diving.
Daily dives will mix with diverse workshops and seminars by dive experts. Dovenbarger will present two seminars on identifying the symptoms of decompression illness. In two other presentations, he’ll discuss “Diver first aid tips that could save your dive vacation.”
“DAN is always looking for ways to provide information to assist divers in making good diving and good health choices,” Dovenbarger said.
Dovenbarger said Douglas will present a DAN course, Introduction to Oxygen First Aid, for boat captains and members of the Curaçao Coast Guard. “This is a course for people who likely encounter divers and need some training in the care and treatment of divers,” Dovenbarger said.
Working with Dr. Juan Botero, a hyperbaric physician at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Willemstad, Curaçao, Dovenbarger will also present evening lectures in hyperbaric medicine and dive safety to chamber personnel and interested medics.
