Divers Alert Network® recently named well-known dive industry author and educator Alex Brylske as the organization’s training consultant.
Eric Douglas, DAN director of training, said Brylske will work exclusively in Florida, helping to convey DAN’s message to both recreational divers and dive professionals throughout the Sunshine State. “We are thrilled to be working with Alex in Florida,” Douglas said. “He brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to the table that we, divers and dive operators in Florida will all benefit from.”
Brylske said he’s been a strong supporter of DAN since its inception. “I’m honored that I can help DAN serve the largest diving market in the world here in my home state,” Brylske said. “I’m especially excited about creating new avenues to educate divers about the vital research that goes on at DAN and what implications this can have on dive safety.”
Brylske will develop and conduct educational seminars for DAN. One of his first projects is a program designed for all divers; it’s titled “Dive Safety Myths and Misconceptions.” Another more in-depth program on risk management, geared exclusively to dive professionals, will explore how continuing education and refresher training can save lives and reduce risks.
Along with his new role with DAN, Brylske will remain as senior editor of Dive Training magazine as well as maintain consulting relationships with other organizations.
Florida-based divers, dive clubs or dive centers interested in attending or sponsoring one of Brylske’s seminars can contact him for more information at 239-471-7824 or email abrylske@dan.duke.edu.
