Oxygen Fills Are Now Easier to Get through Praxair

Thanks to an arrangement with Praxair Inc., DAN Providers and Trainers throughout the United States and Canada can now obtain oxygen USP, or medical-grade oxygen.
Praxair is a global industrial, medical, specialty and diving gas manufacturer headquartered in Danbury, Conn.
The arrangement between DAN and Praxair, effective April 9, 2007, will enable DAN-trained and DAN-certified Oxygen Providers to obtain oxygen fills through Praxair retail locations in the United States and Canada.
Praxair offers the following letter to DAN-certified Oxygen Providers:

Praxair is the largest manufacturer of industrial, medical and specialty gases and equipment in North and South America. We are also a manufacturer of technical and commercial diving gases for the technical/recreational and commercial diving industries.
Divers Alert Network (DAN) provides an important training program to certify qualified Oxygen Providers in the use of oxygen as a first aid treatment for field incidents with potential for hyperbaric injury. For use of Oxygen for First Aid, Praxair will only provide United States Pharmacopeia (USP) grade Oxygen.
Praxair manufactures Oxygen USP and has multiple filling stations throughout the United States and Canada. This product can only be provided to the general public with a physician’s written prescription or to individuals having written proof of their licenses as emergency medical technicians. Praxair will provide Oxygen USP to DAN-trained and DAN-certified Oxygen Providers and Instructors who have proof of current certification.
Many Oxygen Providers have their own oxygen cylinders requiring periodic refill and cylinder services. Praxair can provide Oxygen USP cylinder refills. To obtain refills, follow the recommended process listed below:
- Label your personally owned Oxygen USP cylinder with your name, address, telephone number and any other contact information.
- Go to http://www.praxair.com/stores and find the Praxair retail location nearest you. (Choose from Praxair Distribution, Inc. or Praxair Canada Inc. listings only.)
- Contact the Praxair retail location and describe your requirements for Oxygen USP. It is advised that you contact the location in advance to determine if there are any special logistics necessary. If you have any specific questions about this service, please contact our North American Technical Support Center at 1-877-PRAXAIR (1-877-772-9247).
- Depending on your nearest Praxair retail location’s policy and cylinder availability, your oxygen cylinder will either be exchanged or refilled. Rental cylinders may be available, however this will be at the local Praxair location’s discretion and will require cylinder deposits and other information to set up an account.
- Product pricing is locally determined and may vary.
