Instructor Qualification Course

To become a DAN Instructor, you must participate in a DAN Instructor Qualification Course (IQC).

The IQC follows a modular format. There is a core module and then a separate module for each training program. As long as you remain a current and active DAN Instructor, you can take additional modules without retaking the core module. The core module is online.

Getting Started

To be eligible to take a DAN IQC, you must be the following:

• an active DAN Member
• an active scuba diving educator*
• a current CPR/first aid instructor (You may complete the Basic Life Support: CPR and First Aid course to fulfill this requirement.)

Note about the scuba diving educator requirement: Any scuba diving instructor, or assistant instructor, or dive master with a recognized scuba training organization can attend the IQC.

Instructor Trainer Workshop (ITW)

This Workshop will credential participants as Instructor Trainer in the four courses that comprise the DAN Diving Emergency Management Provider (DEMP) program, including: Basic Life Support: CPR & First Aid, Emergency Oxygen for Scuba Diving Injuries, Neurological Assessment and First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries. The CPR Health-Care Provider course will also be offered.

To attend a DAN ITW, attendees must be:

1. One of the following:
   • an active scuba instructor trainer with a recognized training agency, OR
   • an active Instructor Development Course (IDC) Staff Instructor or DiveCon Instructor and with DAN Diving Emergency Specialist (DES) Instructor recognition, OR
   • an instructor trainer with a recognized CPR/first aid organization with a DAN DES Instructor recognition
2. Active status DAN instructor with three course rosters on file with DAN Education.

Preregistration is required for both courses. Seating for this program is limited.
